Lisa Hinkle: Guidance Counselor

Hello!  I am the counselor at Good Hope Elementary School and Good Hope Primary School.  A school counselor goes into the classroom to teach lessons on various topics.  Our county has developed a list of topics (based on the Alabama  Counseling Coarse of Study) to be covered during the school year.  With each counselor covering the same topics in the same months we avoid having students who move between us during the school year getting the same topic over and over.  Our topics include lessons on: school rules, following directions, Drug Awareness, Career Awareness, getting along with others/Bullying, etc.

Individual students also come to me to talk about anything that they have going on in their lives.  This includes everything from, "I got a new puppy!" to more serious issues.  Since I  have over 640 students at the two schools I am unable to schedule weekly individual sessions with a student.  If a problem is more involved then I may supply parents with a resource list so they can obtain additional help for their child outside of school.

I love working with our students and helping them in any way that I can. If your child has something that is going on in their lives that you think the school needs to know about then feel free to call me.  I am at GHP on Mondays and Wednesdays.  I am at GHE on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thursdays I alternate between the two or attend meetings so it is harder to catch me some Thursdays but leave a message.  Thank you for letting me work with your kids!!
